We actually won. Sweet.
One mustn’t travel very far out on the limb to notice that the majority of you reading this likely consider that statement true. Barack Obama winning the election, to us, was the only reasonably outcome there. Now that he has won we can’t help but to wonder, “what next?”. We hope, that’s what.
We hope that Mr. Obama can lead us from the dark alley Mr. Bush has led us into. There are a multitude of issues we can discuss here to be sure but let’s focus on what we want to talk about here.
We hope that we see a dramatic change in policy from our current draconian thoughts on what fate should befall a person caught with pot in their hands. We hope that this could change for the better.
Thirteen states currently allow marijuana to be used for medicinal purposes but all are subject to raids by US officials. We hope that putting first time, non-violent, seriously ill patients in prison for smoking state-legalized marijuana becomes an unacceptable practice in the very near future.
We hope that a new regime means a new look at the overall drug war. It is often the hardest thing to do to admit that you were wrong or to admit that things could have been done better. Until a president steps up and realizes that the current thinking on the subject is simply inadequate, we will be stuck where we are. We hope he is the guy who finally opens his mind and realizes there are better options.
We think that there are plenty of people out there who not only agree but would love to help this along. We are one of them. Anything we can do to help out, just let us know and we will try our best to help out. We won’t be holding our breath, but it had to be said.
